Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Using a basic Intrepid 64 bit install in vbox the upgrade to Jaunty RC fails.

Ran: 'update-manager -d'

This same test passed at Beta release testing.

FWIW I get the same failure with an Xubuntu upgrade.

The intrepid image I upgraded from was not fully up-to-date. Starting from the original image, updating and doing the upgrade makes the failures go away. We recommend that people update before upgrading so this is lower impact than first though. It's not clear to me whether it should be closed as people are bound to do this and you can only recover by changes sources.list back to intrepid and updating AFAIU.

Dave Morley has also reported a successful upgrade on real HW.
