Bug Description

launching totem like this:

luis@trinity:~$ totem http://www.rocketboom.net/video/rb_05_oct_28.mov

(totem:21914): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accel_label_set_accel_closure: assertion `gtk_accel_group_from_accel_closure (accel_closure) != NULL' failed

(totem:21914): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_accel_label_set_accel_closure: assertion `gtk_accel_group_from_accel_closure (accel_closure) != NULL' failed

gives the following message "There is non plugin to handle this movie" and the movie doesn't play.

Downloading the movie to disk and opening the file with totem works fine.

Thanks for your bug. Do you use totem-gstreamer or totem-xine?

Hi, I'm using totem-xine. Actually I went through the xine pages and found that I needed to try this in xine. The problem is actually with xine that says that it doesn't have the right demuxer for the stream.

Where did you find that information?

Sorry, I wasn't quite accurate in my earlier comment. I actually saw how to go about testing totem bugs here on the totem pages:

http://www.gnome.org/projects/totem/#bugs

"First, see if xine-ui has the bug, I will just close crash bug caused by Xine, or bugs reproduceable in xine-ui, you should send them to xine via their bug tracker. When a crash occurs in xine, please recompile xine-lib with debugging information (run make debug followed by make debug-install after having run the configure script) and provide a backtrace. You will also want to check the xine FAQ."

In Dapper, using totem-xine like the initial reporter, the movie from that URL plays from both the stream and from the file saved locally.

Yes on Dapper the movie is playing with totem-xine although there seemed to be a problem with frequent buffering. On totem-gstreamer I got an internal error and a trace stating something to the effect that the mpeg format was not supported.

It seems to me that we have actually 2 bugs: one in totem-xine, which has problems with frequent buffering and one for totem-gstreamer, which gives an internal error.

For the secound bug, could you please type the following command in the command line:
dpkg -l gstreamer0.10\* > installed-packages.txt

and attach the resulting file 'installed-packages.txt' to this bugreport?

Luis Arias (kaaloo) wrote : Installed gstreamer packages

Here is the requested file. I have installed the good, bad and ugly plugin sets, it seems to me I have gotten everything that's available through the dapper repositories, but I may be missing something.

ok. Since you seem to have all required packages installed, I have to assume that somethings goes wrong in gstreamer. unfortunately, I'm not that familiar with gstreamer internals, so perhaps Sebastian or Sebastien can comment on this?

(for the problem with totem-xine, please file another bug)

running "totem http://www.rocketboom.net/video/rb_05_oct_28.mov" with totem-gstreamer or edgy works fine. Do you still have the issue?

Hi Sebastien,

I can confirm that works fine in Edgy with totem gstreamer, so you can
probably close this bug.

Thanks,
Luis
