i have no sound in my centrino, please help me.

More information, like what kernel and version of ubuntu you are using, is needed for this bug report.

Also, please attach the output of dmesg. Do not paste large output (like the lspci output you did before) in comments. Attach the files uncompressed to the bug report.

I can confirm that I'm seeing the same behaviour on this kernel. I'm running on a Toshiba Satellite P100-113. lshw give this:

I've got the same problem. I've tried installing alsa 1.0.11 with no audible
effect, and I've even tried upgrading my kernel to see if that would help.

I hope the ubuntu admins manage to sort this out soon!

wow... are you psychic? I am literally working on this RIGHT now! Thats both
amazing and kind of creepy.

Anyway, the short answer is yes and no. I've bought a cheapo usb sound card
(the kind with the sound jacks in the back) and I've found that the latest
dapper upgrades detect that nicely. Then if I use the alsa packages from
edgy I sort of get sound. I say sort of because I broke my system so badly
installing edgy that I had to reinstall before I really experimented yet.
I'll probably get just the alsa packages from edgy next and see how that
works.

I hope that helps at least a little bit :)

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'.
