Here you go. After looking at the output, I'm guessing you wanted the second command to be lightning-extension, not just "lightning" so I included both below in addition to the output for calendar-google-provider.

Thanks for the info. I was kind of hoping for different output but i can
work with this i think.
Sorry about the lightning request it should have been
lightning-extensions, thanks for catching that. Lightning is not the
same package

Have you had a chance to work on this at all over the past couple of months, or is there any timeline for when we might be able to test a fix?

No i havent had a chance to play with this yet. Most likely it will be fixed in 1.0.
Can you please run the following command

apport-collect 383670

Can you also please install lightning, i want to test a theory.

Ivan please file a new bug using the following command:

ubuntu-bug lightning-sunbird

Please give me the link to that bug once filed.

Any more updates on this? If we have to wait for version 1.0, any idea when that's going to come out? This has been a problem for months now....

I think i am going to wait for 1.0 however it would be nice if someone filed this bug with Mozilla on:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

Please run the following command than attach the file it produces:
strace -Ff thunderbird 2>&1 | tee strace-thunderbird.log
Im not sure if that will work with running lightning in place of thunderbird.

I personally am unable to reproduce a crash with thunderbird+lightning
I just finished 0.9.....ubuntu3 it just hasnt been uploaded yet and i doubt it will fix your problem

I tried filing this with them and they told me that, since my thunderbird, lightning, and Google Provider extensions were all installed from the Ubuntu respository, I should file it here.

This is exactly one of the reasons why the open-source model breaks down for the average user. Each party is pointing their finger at the other, and no one is under any real obligation to fix a problem that has been confirmed by multiple users. And this comes a full 2.5 months after I originally filed this case!

I certainly appreciate the time and effort everyone who works on these projects contributes to them, but when so many of the ones I try to use on a daily basis have bugs with no fix in site, well, it's hard to not get discouraged and go back to using commercial software.

At any rate, thanks for looking at this. I doubt I will continue chasing after a solution I'm unlikely to get, so it's ultimately up to me to decide whether I want to move back to commercial software or if I'm going to stop complaining and just learn to live with the benefits and detriments of the open-source ecosystem.
