Bug Description

When too long of a passphrase is entered, eCryptfs will return the following error message, which while technically correct could be (I think? Would this hurt security?) more specific.

"Error attempting to evaluate mount options: [-22] Invalid argument
Check your system logs for details on why this happened.
Try updating your ecryptfs-utils package, and/or

Hello, thanks for the report.

What version of ecryptfs are you seeing this problem against?

Using ecryptfs-utils-75, I see the following:

kirkland@x200:/tmp$ ecryptfs-add-passphrase
Passphrase:
Passphrase is too long. Use at most 64 characters long passphrase.

I am fairly positive the problem was with the same version you have. I didn't use ecryptfs-add-passphrase though -- I just ran 'mount.ecryptfs', as I remember. Should have specified that :">

Thanks!

Also, it would be nice if the 64-char passphrase limit was mentioned in the man pages -- I don't believe it is?

Thanks again.

Agreed, sounds like a good idea.

Can you send a patch?

I've never written a man page before, but I'll research it and try, and then get back to you.
