The help page file://
"If a website asks for your financial details, ensure that it is secure. In the Firefox Web browser, secure websites have a yellow address bar with a padlock icon to the right of the address. Click on the padlock to read more information about the security of the website."
At the time of this bug report, the most up-to-date version of Firefox included with Ubuntu 9.04 is 3.0.10, which does not exhibit any of the indicators listed in the help file when connected to a secure site.
Rather, Firefox will display a blue background behind the favicon displayed to the left of the address bar, as well as the server name and a padlock icon in the lower-right corner of the browser chrome when one is connected to a secure site.
