Bug Description

Binary package hint: merkaartor

Dear Ubuntu people,

if you really think you need to update the package in Ubuntu without talking to the Debian maintainer first, or using the Debian repository, please do not create a mess.

Your source contains now
- undistributable files (no copyright, no license, obviously written by Nokia)
- embedded code copies (boost!)
- missing debian/copyright entries

Why do you waste the time, if you don't do it properly? Why don't you talk the the Debian maintainer, who is really responsive, first?

I am to blame for the Merkaartor update. No excuses, it was poor judgement and poorly carried out. Furthermore, the resulting binary has regressions of an error allegedly fixed in 0.13.2 ( bug #322515 ).

Ubuntu-release team,

I propose to downgrade merkaartor version 0.14 to version 0.13.2 from Debian unstable. Attached please find the debdiff that basically syncs the Debian package under the name merkaartor_0.14+rollback0.13.2-0ubuntu1.

The .orig.tar.gz files are identical:

This bug was fixed in the package merkaartor - 0.14+rollback0.13.2-0ubuntu1

  * This is a Ubuntu-only roll-back release that downgrades version 0.14
    (which has a number of unresolved issues and regressions) to
    version 0.13.2 from Debian unstable.
  * Closes LP: #421825 and LP: #322515 .
