HP Deskjet 3550: printing without color

Ubuntu 6.06 beta
I installed HP Deskjet 3550 with hpijs. Printer is starting and runs correctly, but paper remains white (it works on XP)

printer-properties show in terminal:

One reason is, that i didn't use a color cartr. If i set printer properties
to black cartr. printing with OO is ok. But gedit, gpdf etc. are only
printing with the color cartr., even if there is only black color. If there
is no color cartr. there's no way to print from gedit etc.

Can you try if you still have this problem in Dapper 6.06 LTS after applying the patch suggested in bug #34112.

Test packages with the patch applied (amd64 and i386, and source) can be found here (thanks to Martin Pitt):

  deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/packages/libgnomeprint/ ./
  deb-src http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/packages/libgnomeprint/ ./

just add this to /etc/apt/sources.list, sudo apt-get update, and sudo apt-get upgrade.

Let me know if it works!

In the meanwhile the patch has been included in dapper-updates in the latest libgnomeprint 2.12.1-3ubuntu2. Do you still have this problem on an up to date Dapper?

It's solved! Now i can print "äöü" etc with arial from OpenOffice and
gedit prints now with black cartridge only too (not only with color
cartr.)
