Bug Description

Binary package hint: apport

I upgraded from jaunty to karmic and now suddenly ubuntu-bug and apport take me to bugs.edge instead of the real bugs.lp.net. I don't even have beta test status, so I'm not entirely sure how I'm filing these.

If you type http://launchpad.net in your browser, what's the URL you got ?

Apport uses edge (development version of Launchpad), that's why you are redirected to it.

Check out /usr/share/pyshared/launchpadlib/launchpad.py, there is just EDGE and STAGING. The launchpadlib API has always used EDGE for production, see https://help.launchpad.net/API/launchpadlib

Oh, hang on. Kees just complained about using EDGE_SERVICE_ROOT in launchpadlib, but that's not at all the reason for Nick's original problem. However, apport's code does not have edge anywhere, it just knows about staging.lp.net and lp.net (production).

Nick, can you please do

  DISPLAY= ubuntu-bug apport

and check which URL Apport opens through the browser? If that's edge, it would be very surprising. I suspect it's LP itself which redirects.

Oh, well I guess that's egg on my face then. It does indeed display a bugs.lp.net URL and it launches lynx to that location. I guess I just need to get myself removed from this beta testers group thing really. Launchpad has never bounced me over to edge before!

Oh, I'm in the u1 beta testers, but not lp. How did I get redirected?

Nick, thanks for confirming. Retitling bug accordingly and moved to a launchpad task.
