mp3 usb device not detected

Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

Is 's a 256 MB mp3 player which was detected as a device from SigmaTel, Inc. in Breezy. I've got lshal results if it can help but I don't know where to put them.

id hal gives a message saying that user hal does not exist

I launched udevmonitor as instructed but no messages at all appeared on the screen and the file udev.log is empty

There are no udev events at all for the device, and dmesg does not have any trace of the device either, so this looks like a kernel regression.

That's strange but when I plug the mp3 device in the usb port in the back of the laptop it's detected and not in the port on the side. However, it worked with every port in Breezy.
