Bug Description

i have some troubles watchin hdtv, sound is ok but video ist stuttering und realy bad. no matter if i watch livetv or as a recording. when i watch the recordet file with vlc it is playing fine. i think it's not a hardware problem, because the cpu is running with a low % number. see the top.log. i gues it's a software problem, maybe just a tuning problem.

This sounds like you are using a playback profile that is not working with
your hardware. I suggest looking into using CPU--/Slim unless you have an
nvidia card that support VDPAU --or-- are dealing with H.264 encoded
recordings.

Hi Nick

My card is supporting VDPAU thats not the problem. When i use the slim playback profil the cpu raises to 100% but the picture is still stuttering. The interessting part i figured out is, that mythtv says it is (stereo HDTV, 720p resolution) but vlc, that plays it correct, says it is 1080 x 720. So, i sugest that mythtv is not recognizing the resolution correct and thats is the reason for that stuttering.

Walsi,

If your card supports VDPAU my suggestion is this:

Setup a new Playback Profile using VDPAU the decoder and for the Onscreen
rendering, for the Deinterlacer use Bob (Hw x2) and the the secondary chose
the one of the Hw x1 options (I Cant recal the full name at the moment but I
use the one starting with "t")

Just leave the res options blank so it will use it on any res. Then report
back with the results.

Upstreams fix will appear in the next nightly trunk (0.23) build, and assuming that feature freeze happens in time, the next Lucid alpha.

mythtv (0.23.0~trunk23567-0ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * Bump builds to start with 0.23

    - Fix vcs-bzr
    - Update depends to include ttf-droid, ttf-liberation, and ttf-dejavu.
      (LP: #224114)
    - Drop quilt build-dep, it appears to be included w/ dh7

  * Introduces stable pulseaudio support (In Theory! :)) (LP: #311328)
  * Print message to stdout for MythTV.pm (LP: #327406)
  * debian/patches:

    and reboot etc.
  * Drop old debian/mythtv-backend.default. It's just available for upgrades.

  * Refresh patches as quilt format instead
  * Rewrite get-orig-source rules to parse the changelog for version info.
  * Drop any of the Top Secret Options build flags
  * Include a custom snippet for debian/rules mythtv packages in libmyth-dev.
