Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-cups-manager

I'm using an HP DeskJet 5150 usb with gnome-cups and hpijs driver.

In the properties panel, "Resolution, Quality, Ink Type, Media Type" and "PrintOut mode" have no effect. Greyscale or color, every print is colored.

Sounds very much like bug 34112. Can you please upgrade to current dapper and check if it works now?

This should have fixed it:

libgnomecups (0.2.2-1ubuntu3) dapper; urgency=low

  * libgnomecups/gnome-cups-printer.c, parse_lpoptions(): Do not only look in
the obsolete ~/.lpoptions file, but also into ~/.cups/lptoptions. This
fixes the handling of user defined printer settings, default printer, etc.
Closes: LP#34112 and half a thousand duplicates.

Simon,

Can you try if you still have this problem in Dapper 6.06 LTS after applying the patch suggested in bug #34112.

Test packages with the patch applied (amd64 and i386, and source) can be found here (thanks to Martin Pitt):

  deb http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/packages/libgnomeprint/ ./
  deb-src http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/packages/libgnomeprint/ ./

just add this to /etc/apt/sources.list, sudo apt-get update, and sudo apt-get upgrade.

Let us know if it works!

Simon,

In the meanwhile the patch has been included in dapper-updates in the latest libgnomeprint 2.12.1-3ubuntu2. Do you still have this problem on an up to date Dapper?

I'm pretty sure that this is a dup of #34112. Closing for now. Please complain if it still does not work for you.
