synaptic doesnt recognise substrings of package names with "-"

Binary package hint: synaptic
When searching for a package with - in the name in the 'fast search' field the list of possible packages blanks on certain substrings of the package name.
Way's to reproduce
Search for xserver-
The following terms blank the package list
xserver-xo
xserver-xor
xserver-xorg-v
xserver-xorg-vi
xserver-xorg-vid
xserver-xorg-vide
etc
If you search for genome-sharp2 you will notice that
genome-s
shows some packages, but they all seem unrelated to genome-sharp2, while
genome-sha
shows no packages at all

Thank you for reporting this bug. I can confirm this behaviour on an up-to-date Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 install.
I can confirm that this happens always when you're typing the letters in the third part of a package name with at least two hyphens in it.
