Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

I have atmel at76c505a based usb dongle that uses normal drivers from linux-restricted-modules (those drivers are from at76c503a.berlios.de). When I install network-manager and remove my device from /etc/network/interfaces I couldn't manage it with NetworkManager - it even couldn't locate it. wiki page http://live.gnome.org/NetworkManagerHardware says that drivers from atmelwlandriver.sf.net are not supported. But we are using better drivers so they should work.

One is problem is in hal as in bug #50846. Another problem is in drivers. Current cvs snapshot from berlios.de works fine.

So you're saying the issue is the drivers aren't new enough, and the HAL user allows problem?

If so, the former is a kernel issue and the latter is fixed in edgy.

Please let me know, so I can triage the bug properly.

In edgy there is version 0.12beta23. But at76c503a have released new
version. It has little changlog and I tested it, so you can include it to
edgy.

So the remaining problem is the lack of updated atmel wlan drivers. I'm re-assigning to linux-meta as this is their responsible.

Sorry, but I couldn't test it now. I think it would be better to close bug
now and I will reopen it or submit new if it will appear again.
