Bug Description

Binary package hint: openvpn

Hi,

Can you please upgrade the package to the latest official stable version ?

Here is the Changelog from http://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html :

OpenVPN 2.1.1 -- released on 2009.12.11 (Change Log)

Changes include:

    * OpenVPN GUI is now packaged in the Windows installer.
    * Extensions to Management Interface to allow greater programmatic control of OpenVPN client and server.
    * topology subnet option, allowing intuitive tun-based VPN subnets having 1 IP address per client.
    * DHCP proxy support for Windows clients using the route-gateway dhcp option.
    * TAP-Win32 adapter can now be opened from non-administrator mode.
    * PKCS #11 features for usage of cryptographic tokens ("smart cards").
    * multihome option to enable UDP-based multihoming of the server on multiple interfaces.
    * port-share option to allow OpenVPN and an HTTPS server to share TCP port 443.
    * Users upgrading from 2.x should note that the new script-security option must be set to enable OpenVPN to run scripts.

Here is a debdiff for the new 2.1.1 release. Related changelog entry:

  * New upstream version (LP: #509078)
    - removed redirect-gateway.patch, was a backport from rc20
    - updated manpage_dash_escaping.patch (submitted to upstream)
  * Bumped Standards-Version to 3.8.3

Thanks for your contribution. The current version in Debian is 2.1.0-1. The difference between 2.1.1 and 2.1.0 is:

 2009.12.11 -- Version 2.1.1

 * Fixed some breakage in openvpn.spec (which is required to build an
   RPM distribution) where it was referencing a non-existent
   subdirectory in the tarball, causing it to fail (patch from
   David Sommerseth).

Could you please prepare a merge [1] from Debian testing instead?

Once there is a merge ready for review, the ubuntu-main-sponsors team should be re-subscribed.

Minor remarks:
 * To ease the review, you should provide a debdiff from the Debian version to the Ubuntu version (here, the output of "debdiff openvpn_2.1.0-1.dsc openvpn_2.1.0-1ubuntu1.dsc").
 * Changelog should list all remaining delta with Debian, so I changed it to read:

  Merge from debian testing (LP: #509078), remaining changes:
    + debian/openvpn.init.d:
      - Do not use start-stop-daemon and use < /dev/null to avoid blocking boot
      - Show per-VPN result messages
      - Add "--script-security 2" by default for backwards compatibility
    + debian/control: Add lsb-base >= 3.2-14 to allow status_of_proc()

Otherwise looks good, uploaded, thanks !
