I resolved the bug searching for the package after upgrade on Synaptic, and then marking it for reinstalling. It automatically installs the needed package. Do tell if this fix works for you.

Yeah that did the trick just running the update one more time after searching for it, though don't know if it made any difference that I was using amd64 but thanks @mimg2805 did the trick.

When I first tried to re-update by 'check'ing again, update-manager crashed lp517464. Next time I re-ran update-manager it told me there were problems with the packages and offered to perform a partial distribution upgrade (3 packages removed, 6 new packages installed, 15 upgraded). I'll report back how that worked out.

Looks like the partial distribution upgrade cleared up the package problem for me (i386). Should have never appeared, though. This is not stuff for the faint of heart.

The cause is failure to declare appropriate Conflicts and Replaces when renaming the package.

This bug was fixed in the package sip4-qt3 - 4.10.0-2ubuntu2

---------------
sip4-qt3 (4.10.0-2ubuntu2) lucid; urgency=low

  * Fix Replaces; they need to be (<< 4.10.0-2ubuntu1) rather than (<<
4.10.0-0ubuntu1), because 4.10.0-0ubuntu1 still used the old package
    names (LP: #517289).
