Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

Hi,
In th new fast user switcher applet, when I click a user name, I'm presented with the new GDM with only the intended user present. It contains a password box, and two buttons called cancel and log in. The problem occurs when I've clicked the FUSA accidentally, or missed the click and clicked a different user and don't know the password of the user I clicked. in this case, I'd expect the cancel button to take me back to the full GDM list, as it happens during normal log in. But in this case, the cancel button just reloads the same page. So there is no way left to get back to my desktop. I have to restart the machine and log back into my account. All my unsaved works are lost. I believe this is a serious bug that needs to be addressed quickly. When I click the cancel button I should be taken to the normal GDM list so that I can log in to my account.

Thanks for your time.

Robert - is it feasible to add a Cancel button or such? If a fix for this is not feasible, please assign back to Canonical Desktop Team.

Had a quick look at this, will try again next week. The issue appears to be that pressing the cancel button destroys the dialog and creates a new one that automatically selects the user again. The fix is to only select the user the first time the dialog is created. I have to find which layer of GDM is doing this...
