Bug Description

Gnome Media Player lacks volume controls. This appears to be listed as a feature on the projects launchpad summary, however the lack of volume controls is, in my opinion, a fatal flaw.

I thought as much, though I can't for the life of me fathom why you [the
developers] would want to omit volume controls. Especially in
full-screen mode.

I rather like the basic idea behind the Gnome Media Player, but as it is
now it's unusable to me; I constantly find myself moving the cursor to
the lower right corner of the display looking for volume/mute controls.

I'll not labour the point (further), as I am but a mere end-user. But I
do hope that your position changes as development progresses.

Lee.

Simply, because I don't need it :). Just to be clear, I'm not anti-volume controls and if someone is interested in implementing this then they are more than welcome. On my media centre, I have my mouse buttons 8 and 9 mapped to the volume controls. On my laptop I use the media keys.

There are only 2 developers (Bilal and myself) so there's not a big voting session that goes on. I have coded most of the UI and Bilal has not expressed a concern with it. I don't know if he plans on implementing something like this.

Michael,
Once, I thought of working on the volime control problem. Instead, I thought it would be better to patch bugs than to implement that. Patching bugs is more important than implementing new features.
Lee,
You could have issued a blueprint instead. A bug refers to an error in the program, not a missing feature.

I do apologise. As I am new to launchpad I was not familiar with its blueprint feature. I'll make a mental note of it for the future.

Lee,
No problem. Your bug in fact helped me to know that there are people who NEED the volume controls in gnome media player. I would begin working on it soon, when I become a bit free from work.
