Bug Description

Today when someone installs from an ubuntu DVD. It so happens that when the PAE kernel is install it keeps kernel-headers package, but it erases the kernel-headers-generic package & replaces it with the kernel-headers-generic-pae.

This is mainly a fix to the debian/control file. But baiscally need to add kernel-headers-generic-pae into the control file. But since kernel-headers is kept around .. it just happens to work. This is to ensure it is spelled out to be in the file.

There are N flavours of kernel headers available, and adding one more won't help. The "linux-headers" virtual package is satisfied by the headers for each linux flavour. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the linux headers for the running kernel (or the expected-to-be-running-kernel) are available at install time.

If this is a bug, the bug is in *all* DKMS-using packages in that they ought detect whether the running kernel matches the available kernel headers, and if not, warn the user and offer to install matching kernel headers.

Hey Bryce,
This is not an issue. My main point on this was to explicitly have the pae headers specified. But since it looks for linux-headers .. it just happens to work. There was another bug I had with this, and the decision was to stick with just depending on linux-headers.
