synaptic requires libvte.so.4, but upgrade of libvte removes it

Bug Description

Binary package hint: libvte4

After doing an upgrade this morning, synaptic failed to launch with:

synaptic: error while loading shared libraries: libvte.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Checking the package libvte4 shows that is only installs libvte.so.9 (and libvte.so.9.1.2)

I created a symlink libvte.so.4 to libvte.so.9, and synaptic then works fine.

Nope, this is in Dapper. The package version is 1:0.13.5-0ubuntu2.

As found on IRC, this appears to be a backport from the third-party repositories for compiz. As we do not support packages being randomly backported from edgy, I'm rejecting this bug.

My apologies, Andrew is correct. I didn't know how to see which respository the package came from.
