Bug Description

Binary package hint: apport

When iso testing Xubuntu image 20100429 I discovered that apport was enabled during the Live session even though apport version 1.13.3-0ubuntu2 is installed.

This should be fixed for the point release image.

I also see this with the ubuntu amd64 dvd image 20100429, same version of apport is installed. After instaling, apport is disabled correctly.

It's intended. From yesterday on IRC:

I had some concerns about the volume of apport-crashes that might come from this being enabled but looking at the Launchpad database I only found 6 apport-crash bug reports with "BOOT_IMAGE=/casper" in the description so the volume of these does seem low. However, it'd be worth watching to see if disabling apport in the live session is something to do for a point release. Or possibly looking into how many of these are duplicates.

For the record, it gets enabled in ./scripts/casper-bottom/33enable_apport_crashes. As far as I remember, the installer team requested it back then, to catch ubiquity crashes etc. during installation. It's also rather useful for testing new hardware.
