Thanks for your bug. Did you restart your box or dbus since the update of the package? If not could you try again after restarting it?

I have restarted several times since the package was updated but it has not solved the problem.

Are you member of the admin group? Could you run "groups" and copy that to a comment?

I also went to check the groups in the Users and Groups GUI and again it was totally blank, it looks like none of the gnome-system-tools are working.

groups output

"warren adm dialout cdrom floppy audio video plugdev lpadmin scanner"

I think this bug and bug 59738 are caused by the same problem all related to a dbus issue (maybe) here is the output from restarting dbus

What version of Ubuntu did you install and how? The "admin" group is a standard group and should be available on your ubuntu installation

This version of Ubuntu has been around since breezy, upgrading with apt-get dist-upgrade, the thing is all of this worked and I was a member of the admin group before the GNOME 2.16 upgrade, it even worked with GNOME 2.15.92

Interesting ....I don't have an "admin" group anymore.

$ cat /etc/group | grep admin
lpadmin:x:107:warren

re-creating the admin group and adding myself to it has solved this problem and bug 59737. I am however curious if I caused this problem or if it was a package upgrade, I don't remember doing anything involving groups but since I haven't seen anyone else with this problem I will assume it was me.
