Bug Description

The Mesa in Lucid contains the 3d driver for VMware, vmwgfx, but it is not built by default. It works pretty well here (runs compiz nicely, etc), could you please build/package it?

Sorry, what? Why do you need xorg logs and lspci output?

This is some ways off from being included in ubuntu/debian but it will be there eventually. At the moment it requires X dev packages to build and X requires mesa to build which creates a nasty dependency loop. I have been building it in xorg-edgers (in the libgl1-mesa-dri-gallium package) for some time though.

The vmwgfx driver was disabled in Maverick per Bug #606139, and CONFIG_DRM_VMWGFX is currently disabled in the Natty kernel.

RAOF - was vmwgfx dropped upstream from mesa? If not, should we consider including it in the build by default? If not, let's close this bug out.

I understand that vmwgfx isn't very good in 7.11; I've closed out the oneiric task and opened one for P, where we will want to enable this.

Looking at http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/i386/libgl1-mesa-dri/filelist ,
it seems that this has been fixed in Precise.
This would be "fix committed"
