Bug Description

Initially, the image has the hostname of the buildd that created it. This should be set to ubuntu to avoid exposing the names of the buildd systems.

Wouldn't it be more elegant to do this during image build? Otherwise you still "expose" the buildd name.

If you want to avoid exposing the builder's name then it's still not fixed.

I get the hostname as localhost during the first boot but messages are still logged with the builder's name:

/var/log/messages:
Aug 27 16:30:12 sycamore ubiquity: Your console font configuration will be updated the next time your system
Aug 27 16:30:12 sycamore ubiquity: boots. If you want to update it now, run 'setupcon' from a virtual console.

I just installed using a daily build from 9/14 (amd64) live image. The installation process did not give my an option to set the hostname. the current hostname is rperkins-desktop. rperkins is the initial username assigned to the install. now I must hand edit /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname. I did the install twice thinking i missed the chance to properly set the hostname during the install. i didnt.

The installer for 10.10 should give me a place to set the hostname.

thanks

jasper is a tool specifically for armel hardware and does not provide any UI elements, you probably want to look at bug #628087

thanks for the clarification even more for pointing me in the correct direction.
Now I realize my 'bug' is a feature.
