Bug Description

indicator-appmenu 0.0.9-0ubuntu1, ubuntuone-client 1.3.10-0ubuntu1, Ubuntu Maverick

1. Open Nautilus's "File" > "Ubuntu One" submenu.

What you see:
* If you're using the in-window menu bar, the Ubuntu One items all correctly do not have icons.
* If you're using the global menu bar, however, the items all have icons.

What you should see:
* None of the items have icons in either case.

Matthew, can you attach a reference fo the design guidelines for icons in menus? Ie we want to suppress icons from menus in general. Yet, there are legitimate usages for icons afaict, and I'd like to understand how the different modules can enforce the rules.

Ie, should it be appmenu that prevents all icons from showing up? But then, how can it distinguish which icons we legitimately need to display?

Should appmenu enforce that rule for KDE apps as well?

The rule has previously been -- do what the applications say. Let's fix
the apps that are broken. We can't really have a generic policy for
things like Firefox bookmarks, etc as we don't have enough information
to make a good choice. Only the application has that information.

What Ted said. I initially reported this bug on ubuntuone-client because I thought it was doing the wrong thing. But then I tried without the indicator-appmenu applet, and realized it was indicator-appmenu doing the wrong thing.
