Bug Description

Binary package hint: kopete

kopete allows you to add xmpp accounts to it without installing the kopete-gcall package, but then generates error messages along the lines of "could not start the process googletalk-call, please check your installation of kopete" and then becomes very unstable. The error messages and instability cease cease after installing the kopete-gcall package, which is suggested by kopete, but not a recommendation or dependency.

Solution: get rid of the warning dialogs.

Additionally from what I see in the code it also still needs to be integrated with kubuntu-notification-helper. On that note I might also added that the message from knh only ought to be sent when/if the user has a jabber account.

This bug was fixed in the package kdenetwork - 4:4.5.1-0ubuntu2

---------------
kdenetwork (4:4.5.1-0ubuntu2) maverick; urgency=low

  * Add kubuntu_04_googletalk_no_errormsg_and_knh_support.patch to:
    + Not throw silly error messages when googletalk-gcall binary is not
      installed
    + Send dbus message to kubuntu-notification-helper so it tells the user
      about installing kopete-gcall
      + As a bonus this only happens when the user has a Jabber account
        configured
    + Not show the Google Talk tab in the jabber preferences unless the
      executable exists
    + Fix LP: #629217
