Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub-pc

I'm running Natty with two partitions (/dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1) as a RAID 1 device (/dev/md0).
The machine has been up to date.

After updating to the latest grub-pc (1.99~20101124-1ubuntu1) and/or the kernel over the last day, grub2 no longer boots from a RAID 1 array at /dev/md0

The system stops immediately at:

error: can't find device: 4dcb...
grub rescue>

I've tried running another update-grub2 and grub-install on the drives, with no success.

The UUID (4dcb...) has a corresponding entry in /etc/fstab and blkid returns the same UUID for /dev/md0.

Thoughts on how to proceed?

This is also bug 681535 (the symptoms may not be quite the same, but it should be the same basic problem). I'll mark this as a duplicate and track it there.
