Password fields appear blank

Bug Description

In the Preferences panel, password fields always appear blank, regardless of how many characters are in them. When typing in them, the insertion point moves, but nothing appears. (Perhaps a bullet or asterisk is actually being inserted, but is white text on a white background?)

This might be a problem in whatever GUI library GNUstep uses.

Problem occurs with:
* Gnumail 1.2.0, Ubuntu 6.10
* Gnumail 1.2.0~pre2-1, Ubuntu Gutsy
* Gnumail 1.2.0~pre3+snap20071004-4build1, Ubuntu 9.04

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?

I can confirm this is still an issue in 9.04, using package 1.2.0~pre3+snap20071004-4build1.

Did you ever see anything but blank space in any version of GNUMail - maybe that is either expected behavior or some odd interaction between windowing toolkits (it gets asked to do something it doesn't know how to)

I don't understand the question.

Anyway, this is fixed in 1.2.0~pre3+snap20071004-4build2. The insertion point thinks that the password character is much wider than it actually is, but that's a separate problem.
