Bug Description
If I open a terminal window running inside of X and issue sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop, I get a black screen with a cursor blinking and I have to reboot the machine instead of getting the expected bash prompt.
I also tried killing the GDM process and it yielded the same results.

This sounds a lot like Bug 67440... what do you think? Is it a duplicate?
Also, when my console goes black, I can still run "sudo /etc/init.d/kdm restart" (though I can't see it... be careful to type it correctly!). You?
