Bug Description

When I insert a usb drive nautilus pops up a file browsing window. It I close that window as soon as it comes up then a nautilus process uses all my idle cpu until I reboot or kill that process. Killing the process seems to have no bad effects.

I have found myself in a similar boat, I don't know if I caused it the same way, but I have seen nautilus suddenly spike to 100% cpu and hold until restarted, I'm trying to see if its a thumbnailing issue (there used to be a big one with .gif files) or what, but it happens.

Thank you for your bug. What version of libgnomevfs2-0 do you use? That might be the same problem than bug #54684

My versions a bit newer, but the symptoms are very similar.

Could you try with 2.16.1-0ubuntu3 from edgy-proposed or 2.16.1-0ubuntu4 when it'll have been accepted to edgy-updates and built? They have a fix for a monitoring loop

edgy-proposed is an extra apt source: "deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ edgy-proposed main restricted universe multiverse" used to test updates candidates.

If you just want to use approved fixes the update should show to edgy-updates soon and will show has a standard "available update" on your machine
