Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Because a picture is better than words, you can see the attachment. This happens always (i rebooted, updated...), but I have a working internet connection AND files are syncing well. More of that, the ubuntu one icon show progresses well, ubuntu one notifications are working fine too. I have the ubuntuone indicator, it works too.

Hi Kévin,

as per the information from your log, our requests from the control panel to our servers are failing with SSL_FAILED. Since the rest of the users are not having this issue, I would guess the is something odd with your system/connection.

Are you behind a proxy? are you getting this error every single time or was it a one time only thing?

Thanks, Natalia.

I'm not behind proxy, VPN or ant encrypted connection. This error

function twhich have a problem with internet (Empathy, web browser,
mail, apt UbuntuOne file sync : All works fine).

Hello,

So, let's try the following:

* In the Ubuntu One web UI:
  - remove your machine from https://one.ubuntu.com/account/machines

* In your computer:
  - quit syncdaemon by typing in a terminal: u1sdtool -q
  - open seahorse and remove your Ubuntu One token
  - remove all the log files for the control panel: rm -rf ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/controlpanel*
  - update and restart your computer
  - open the control panel and re-add your device to Ubuntu One

Let me know how that goes. Thanks, Naty.

Ok, so other than the SSL FAILED error there is nothing new in the log file.

Can you please try the following? Publish any file you're currently synchronizing with Ubuntu One using nautilus, so we can exercise accessing our REST API from other place that do not use libsoup (like the control panel does).

Let me know how that goes! Thanks.

Publication works very fine too: I can publish and get the URL for
right menu without any problems.

Ok, so, after a discussion with the rest of the team, we can't think of any problem other than the installation (maybe) missing the CA cert that validates our site.

Can you please check if control panel works for you in:

- another user account in the same computer
- another computer
- using another ISP (maybe going to a bar or something?

Thanks for helping debugging this!
Regards, Natalia.

I will try other computer/other Internet Service Provider soon, I can't today (I have a desktop, not a laptop.. so it's a little bit difficult, It should be possible this week-end)

Scuse for double post, I think that the little bug I explain in previous comment is due to computer/'s age. It's an 11 years old laptop, very (very (very)) slow. I do not think the problem come from Ubuntu One in this case, but if you want the log, I can give it to you

Hi Kévin,

so, if your account is working in another machine, I would check if you have these files:

nessita@ernst:~$ ls -l /etc/ssl/certs/UbuntuOne-Go_Daddy_C*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1778 2011-02-23 19:42 /etc/ssl/certs/UbuntuOne-Go_Daddy_CA.pem
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1449 2011-02-23 19:42 /etc/ssl/certs/UbuntuOne-Go_Daddy_Class_2_CA.pem

in the computer you're having the SSL FAILED error.
Thanks!

Yep :
kevin@kevin-server:~$ ls -l /etc/ssl/certs/UbuntuOne-Go_Daddy_C*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1778 2010-01-08 12:39
/etc/ssl/certs/UbuntuOne-Go_Daddy_CA.pem
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1449 2010-01-08 12:39
/etc/ssl/certs/UbuntuOne-Go_Daddy_Class_2_CA.pem

But I discovered 3 minutes ago another bug, that I think can be linked.
It's with shotwell, when I try to publish file via flickr, It ask me to
install glib-networking because :
TLS/SSL support not available; install glib-networking

I checked but glib-networking is installed.

Hi Kévin,

so, after another brainstorm, we've come up with some ideas (is obvious you have some SSL issue somewhere):

* please attach to this bug the screenshot of opening the following url in firefox:

https://one.ubuntu.com/api/account/

Also, please let us know if you have a VPN available to see if using the VPN you are able to us the control panel.
Thanks, Natalia.

The URL just display No OAuth request. on the top. I tried with the two computer, same thing.
I had a problem yesterday with my desktop, it didn't started, so I had to format, and Control Panel do not have this problem anymore, but the URL always display No OAuth request.
That's strange because the old laptop still have the control panel bug, and it was on a fresh install too. I think it's because I made the install on the desktop with the latest daily-live, and with Beta 1 on the laptop.
I will update laptop today (it is so so old it take 3 two hours, I didn't have time until now ....), to see if there is still the bug.

Hi Kévin,

Getting 'No OAuth request' is the expected behavior, so no worries there. Let me know how the update goes.

My desktop still works fine. I can't start my laptop (he do not have batteries, and I do not have his power supply). I wouldn't have it for maybe one month or two. But as my desktop works fine know, I think my laptop will too. I think the bug should stay to incomplete until I can finally update and test my laptop. Sorry not to be able to help more !!!
