Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

NattyB1 x86_32 LiveCD. Had to do a mishmash downgrade/upgrade (good mobo died, went from 64-bit C2E to 32-bit P4) so I reformatted my / overwriting 10.10 x64 with 11.04B1 x86. Of course, my /home/ was separate & encrypted & I didn't reformat. Usually "Encrypt my home directory" is greyed out but it was still active. Someone should fix or re-add the ecryptfs check. Labeling as a security vulnerability because someone might mistakenly start writing directly to /home/ w/o going through ecryptfs.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Was it checked without giving you the ability to select a different option?

No, that's the point & why I had this originally filed as a security flaw, someone not paying attention could accidentally their ecryptfs, or at least stop writing to it.

I've just tried to reproduce this with a daily-live CD and I saw the expected outcome; the installer forced the selection of the encrypted home option. Can you please try again with tomorrow's daily-live CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current), making sure that `ubiquity --version` is newer than 2.6.6?

Thanks!
