Bug Description
(I'm new to Linux)
I downloaded and installed Kubuntu 6.10 on 11-18-06.
If I try to click the Re-start button (in the shutdown menu from K-menu), it looks like it is going to re-start, but actually the screen just goes black and sits there . . . until I manually press the reset button on my PC case.
So, I've been using at Terminal, sudo shutdown -r now.
My hardware is mainstream:
Intel D915GAVL mobo with embedded graphics (Intel GMA, Graphic Media Accelerator), Intel CPU (530J 3 GHz), two Seagate SATA 160 HDDS, 17-inch CRT--NEC AccySync 750F, and a Sony DVD+/-RW optical drive.

I applied the following fix that seems to have worked:
Log into Kubuntu 6.10. =True
Open Konqueror.
Navigate to /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc
Rt-click, Actions, Edit as root
Remove the # from the line TerminateServer
File, Save
Re-start. It didn’t re-boot--same problem--so I pressed Reset button.
Then re-start worked in Kubuntu 6.10.
Since then, re-start and shutdown have worked as they should.
