[EDGY] firefox crashed [@ pthread_mutex_lock] libflashplayer.so

Bug #75457 reported by Dan Werner

firefox (Ubuntu)
Incomplete

Mozilla Bugs

Bug Description

There is no single set of steps to reproduce. Sometimes it happens when flash is running; sometimes it occurs after clicking on a link; sometimes it occurs while clicking on menus within firefox. This sometimes occurs with other (non-firefox) apps as well and appears to be a conflict with x or perhaps gnome. It didn't start happening until I performed an upgrade in Ubuntu from dapper to edgy.

The output always looks something like:
"The application 'Gecko' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application."

It is also sometimes accompanied by a core dump.

Thanks for your crash report.

Could you please download you crash report, run

apport-retrace -d [filename]

and resubmit it. Instructions can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport

I am working my way though all of the firefox issues reports and don't have enough bandwidth to download/upload them all myself;(

Thanks
David

Well, I tried but received a "KeyError". A quick google search indicates that this is also a bug, one that it appears you ran into as well. I don't know enough to proceed further with it. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I think this is a problem with x/gnome anyway (as opposed to firefox) since it has happened to me with a few other apps. Not that this helps me figure out how to fix it...

Is this still an issue for you with the latest FireFox version in repos? We are trying to trying sort out the older Mozilla issues and would like to know if this still happens.

Yes, it just happened a moment ago (I waited after receiving your email for it to happen). Here's the version Firefox says I have:

"Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20060601 Firefox/2.0.0.1 (Ubuntu-edgy)"

Like I mentioned in one of the other emails, this might not be a Firefox-specific issue, since I have another app that crashes the same way sometimes. I guess that might make it a gnome or x issue? If you think the ticket should be closed for that reason, that's fine. I could submit a gnome bug...

About a month ago, I upgraded to Feisty, and firefox has not crashed even once for me during that time. Nor has the other application that was periodically crashing. Whatever has changed with the upgrade, I think my problem is now resolved.
