Bug Description

Binary package hint: kicker

Kicker uses about 2-3% cpu when autohide is enabled.

To reproduce this just create a new user, log with it and enable autohide in kicker preferences.

kubuntu 6.10
kicker 3.5.5-0ubuntu3.2

Is this all the time or only while hiding/unhiding and using the kicker?

Thank you for reporting this, but I don't think it's a bug -- hiding/unhiding does take a few cpu cycles after all.

CPU usage happens all the time, not just when hiding/unhiding... Just
disabling kicker autohiding makes kicker to not waste CPU.

That's why I reported it, of course there's no problem with the
appearing and desappearing of kicker when on mouse over.

You can replicate this behaviour just with adduser and the default
kubuntu desktop skel.

Thanks for your report. However, I agree with Yuriy Kozlov. This isn't a real bug but a normal behaviour with that options. I'll close this report. Feel free to report any other problems.

I wouldn't say it's not a bug, but it is relatively unimportant and is something that would need to be fixed upstream (and my guess is will be fixed in plasma). Kicker is probably doing some sort of polling for when the mouse hits the edge of the screen and should do it more efficiently.
