Bug Description

Middle-click on a left panel icon launches a new instance of that application. Example: middle-clicking on chromium launches a new chromium window. Pressing <super># launches that app. <super><shift># should launch a new instance of that app.

We still cannot do this in the current version of Unity 2D, in Oneiric Beta 2.

Why is it marked wishlist? Surely this is an unnecessary inconsistency between Unity and Unity 2D. All that is required is for the shift modifier to cause a new window to open, just as it does in standard Unity.

I've added ayatana-design as an affected project.

My rationale is this: the <super><shift># shortcut to open a new instance of the application is a part of the design of standard Unity, and is implemented there. It is not in Unity 2D.

Either there is a problem with the design, in which case it must surely apply to both Unity and Unity 2D together.
Or the design is sound, and the omission in Unity 2D is a bug rather than wishlist.
