Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

The UDFS CDs are not mounted as UDFS but as regular CDs.
The default content with a .exe and a text saying it's UDFS is the only thing readable from the CD.

The only way to read the data on the CD is to manually mount the CD with -t udf at the command line. Surely this can't be done by our regular user.

UDFS CD should be detected and mounted accordingly when inserted.

The CD apparently is an ISO/UDF disk.
The ISO structures contain Windows driver.
This bug is rather a feature.
However the default should be to try to mount UDF, then ISO. Currently it is the opposite.

Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? How do you create an UDF CD?

The UDF CD were made with Roxio on Windows by somebody else.

I guess the packages udftools provides what is needed to make CDs with UDF FS.

Marking unconfirmed and low importance, that looks like a corner case. Would be nice if somebody having a such CD and getting the problem could forward upstream if they have no bug about it already

I use Xubuntu 8.04 64-bit and I have a number of UDF-formatted DVD+RW disks
that I can`t read or write to in Xubuntu. Since version 6.10.
They are just laying around, waiting for someone to fix this UDF behavior.

Xubuntu doesn't use Nautilus, which suggests the issue is lower down (perhaps kernel related?) Can you mount the disk manually? If so, does "ls" list the contents of the volume?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

It is not working even for disks that i formatted as UDF on the same box.
I am using Xubuntu 64-bit 8.04.1 . Maybe It would be nice for someone to report that
it is actually working for him.
I tried to setup packet-writing with no luck again.
I even got to the situation where it is "writing" on disk (must be used as root)
but actually nothing is written on UDF disk and upon re-insertion, "data" is gone..
