invisible icons

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Some of the icons in the upper gnome-panel become invisible sometimes. If one right-click on the space left, the menu corresponding to the icon appears, and whatever application they represent works fine.

Any ideas on what kind of information can I provide for this bug?

Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Does it happen with launchers, applets, notification are icons? Marking low importance, that looks a minor point

edgy. it happens with the gaim, skype and gnome-power-manager icons.
these all happen to be at the right of the right-most separator in the
upper notification area. the volume-applet and the network monitor,
which are besides these, don't have this problem otherwise.

What sort of settings do you use for that panel (transparent panel? background image? width? scaled? automatically masked?)

I use the defaults for edgy. this is a 1280x800 screen, but I am using
a second screen with xinerama. I don't recall this ever happening when
working on a single screen. no transparent panel, no background image,
and not sure about the masking, but I definitely didn't change any of
the defaults that come with Edgy.
