Bug Description

Binary package hint: libgtkmm-2.4-doc

$ cd /usr/share/doc/libgtkmm-2.4-doc/examples/stock
$ make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

There's a Makefile.am, and a Makefile.in, but no way to build the example.
Also there don't appear to be any binaries to execute.

on 1:2.10.2-0ubuntu1 (edgy)

We need some parts of the automagic files here (configure.in I guess).
Still present on latest Gutsy gtkmm2.4 1:2.11.6-0ubuntu1

Changed in gtkmm2.4:
assignee: nobody → ubuntu-gnomemm
status: New → Confirmed

Upstream or Ubuntu could just choose not to install those Makefile.am files. They aren't meant to be useful in isolation.

Since version 2.12.3-1 Makefile.am's are no longer shipped. Since 2.14.0 the examples are in gtkmm-documentation (pending sponsor in Debian experimental), whose README.Debian contains hints to build the examples.

This can be closed now, there is documentation on how to build the examples.
