Bug Description
Booted from the Kubuntu Feisty Herd 2 Alternate Install CD, and chose Install in text mode. After localisation and keymap, the installer looks for the CD. It runs the Detecting Hardware progressbar and the just hangs. It gives no errors, and does nothing after it, just shows the blue background. Same happened with two different systems under VirtualBox and one system when no virtualisation was in use.

Press Alt-F4 and look at the log; are lots of "not found" messages scrolling by? If so, this is also bug 76341, and adding hw-detect/ start_pcmcia= false to the kernel command line will work around it.
