Bug Description
Binary package hint: nautilus
Click on a .gnumeric file on the desktop, add/remove programs opens, finds Gnumeric, opens "Searching for appropriate programs" and hangs.
Kill with xkill
Repeat, select Gnumeric, download starts but stalls
Restart apt-proxy
apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, apt-get install gnumeric all proceed normally
May be failure to start apt-proxy (but I have been using it without manual restart for days).
Nautilus should time out with an appropriate error message

Thank you for your bug. The description is not clear, is gnome-app-install (which install the application) or nautilus (the file browser) hanging? What version of Ubuntu do you use? Could you get a backtrace for the hang (https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/Backtrace)? Do you have anything to .xsession-errors about that? Does using gnome-app-install not started from nautilus acts differently?
