Bug Description

Five minutes ago I needed to attach two files to a comment, but I can attached only one.
I did another comment (without text) and attached the second file.

I suggest multiple attachment. Many files associated to one comment.

Changed in launchpad:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

I agree. The apport tool can attach multiple files in its submissions (also in the original post, which is not an option normally). Adding multiple attachments and adding attachments to the original bug should be enabled.

I concur, limiting a bug to one attachment is not very efficient and a separate post must be created for each file. I also support the implementation of multiple attachments on launchpad (with an optional comment field for each attachment).

You can now submit multiple attachments through email; is that enough to satisfy your use cases here?

It's great, thanks.

Kiko,

Thanks for your comment. It would be great to implement this feature as part of the web interface too.

Cheers!

It is quite annoying that if you have more than one file you will have to add file by file rather than all at once. Additionally, each attachment means new message!

More constrains less bugs report.

The web interface is much easier to use than emails (e.g. for reading it's history or changing the status). This is a big missing feature for the web interface because often more than one file should be attached, e.g. for kernel bugs you have to add dmesg.log and lspci-vvnn.log.

Kiko, this really needs higher priority than it's gotten. I see people complaining about this in X bugs more than any other launchpad issue...

I just came here after trying to add more than one attachment to a bug, and from the web interface there is no clue at all that you can add attachments later on. I had to create a place on my webserver and hosted the attachments there. It's very frustrating.

Could you just change the instructions to attach zips with all the files?

No, thats one extra step that most people don't want to take. especially
people triaging the reports. image files can be opened in firefox, zips
cant.

Some developers request individual files to be attached instead of compressed archives.

I might suggest, that the possiblity to send the attachments via email could be announce on the same page where one types her comment as long as it is not possible to upload more than one file.

It would be nice to have this feature also in launchpadlib so that bugs that are programmatically created can attach multiple files in just one comment.

I know it's possible to do it the same way apport does (upload blob and use the ticket to file a new bug), but I'm not sure it's easy to do it without opening a web browser an ask the user to fill some data (not really interesting when already using launchpadlib).

summary: - Launchpad doesn't support multiple attachment
