This bug was fixed in the package hugs98 - 98.200609.21-5.3ubuntu1

---------------
hugs98 (98.200609.21-5.3ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #831281), remaining changes:
    - Reset LDFLAGS to fix FTBFS: comma in default value gets lost somehow,
      which makes compiler unhappy (LP: #287166).

hugs98 (98.200609.21-5.3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Build-depend on libreadline-dev | libreadline5-dev. Closes: #553783.
