Weird, hal-device-manager has a dependency to python-dbus. What is the output of these commands?

  dpkg -s python-dbus
python -c 'import dbus; print dbus.version'

Changed in hal:
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

Oh, and please do

  dpkg -L python-dbus > python-dbus.files.txt

and attach python-dbus.files.txt here. I have an idea what could be wrong.

Ah, did you happen to try this during a system upgrade, or after a failed system upgrade?

I got the same issue. There are no issues during and after upgrading, however when launching this item from control center, the error occurs. Attached python-dbus.files.txt

Now I got that error, too. Before, with version 0.5.8.1-4ubuntu8, I could start it and got Bug #84422. Unfortunately I can't downgrade to the older version to try if it still runs.

Now it works, I don't know why, but I'm happy with that ;-)
