Bug Description
Binary package hint: base-installer
I picked a DVD ISO of Feisty (i386), can't remember which one, either Herd3, or a daily build a few days later.
Problem : when I run the text installer, it hangs after a few steps. More precisely, I answer the language, K/B layout etc, then I see "Detecting hardware to find CDROM devices", IIRC. This appears to succeed, then the dialog disappears, so I expect the next dialog/phase to come up, but nothing happens, it hangs there.
Out of curiosity I switched to a virtual console, and found "kernel not found" messages filling the screen over and over. HTH...

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 76341; Herd 4 should be happier.
