gnome-menu applets crash, memory leaks 100%

Bug Description

My menu applets crashed in this order:
- disk mounter
- session-manager
- gnome updater

then I noticed the heatsink to be putting out really hot air - and the memory usage to be at 100% - when really using only about 15%.

I turned off my laptop so I wouldn't melt the mobo, and when I rebooted I had several filesystem errors. I manually did fsck in safe mode and fixed all the errors.

Version info:
Edgy eft on a Dell Inspion 700m (32-bit Pentium M)

Reassigning to update-manager as the backtrace is about it.

Thanks for your bugreport.

The backtrace is not very enlightening unfortunately. Do you have more information what was happening before the crash?

Cheers,
 Michael

I really can't remember much.
2 things come to mind:

1) I had just done an update of some file - lib. . . (?)
2) I am running beryl

If there is a way to find that file in a log I can def do that.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, as Ubuntu Edgy Eft is no longer supported. If you can reproduce this issue using Hardy Heron, please reopen the bug report by clicking on the current status, under the Status column, and changing the Status back to "New". Thanks again!
