Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

In gedit, when running Ubuntu with locale set to pt_BR.utf-8, gedit translated "Scheme" and "Octave" programming languages names to Portuguese, which is wrong. By convention, names are not translated to Portuguese. For example, programming languages "Python", "Ruby" and "Objective Caml" are not translated to "Pitão", "Rubi", "Camelo Objetivo".

Steps to reproduce.
1. Set system language to Brazilian Portuguese.
2. In gedit, select "Ver", "Modo de Destaque", "Fontes". "Scheme" is translated to "Esquema".
3. In gedit, select "Ver", "Modo de Destaque", "Scripts". "Octave" is translated to "Oitava".

Hum, do you still have the problem? It does not seem to be in current edgy rosetta pt or pt_BR .po files.

 Hello,

I had the problem yesterday, when I posted the bug report. I don't know if
the bug still persists today, bug when I get home I can confirm this. I've
also tried to download gedit .po translation, but there aren't any
programming language names in it.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the newest release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Still present in Intrepid in the Spanish translation of GEdit. Version 2.24.2 of gedit

2. In gedit, select "Ver", "Modo resaltado", "Fuentes". "Scheme" is translated to "Esquema".

Should be "Scheme", i.e. left untranslated.
