Bug Description
I cannot get Ubuntu to load X on a Clevo M660s notebook, fitted with a Via Unichrome Pro CE integrated graphics card. Because the Openchrome xorg server does not recognize the new version of the chipset, I have configured X with the vesa server.
When X loads, I can type my login and password, but if I touch the synaptics touchpad, everything freezes after a few moves, and I have to hit the power button because I can't kill X, nor access a console.
I have read everything I could on Synaptics and Ubuntu, changed my xorg.conf file every imaginable way, but the computer still freezes. I have tried a dozen different distros, and the only ones that are usable are Fedora Core 6 and Knoppix.
