Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

The release of Firefox 1.5.0.10 for Dapper has been announced since February 26, 2007 (see USN-428-1: http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-428-1), but it's neither in the repos nor listed at packages.ubuntu.com (see http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=firefox&searchon=names&subword=1&version=dapper&release=all).

For Breezy, the new package is already listed (see http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=firefox&searchon=names&subword=1&version=breezy&release=all).

C'mon guys, this is Ubuntu LTS!

And it's the third time in a row that a security-related update for Firefox just won't get out in time:
Bug#77333, Bug #72618

Quite a shame for the LTS-release IMHO.

Some clarification:

Firefox 1.5.0.10 has been released on February 23th from upstream (see: http://www.mozilla.org/news.html#p425).

Updated packages for Ubuntu 5.10 / 6.06 LTS / 6.10 have been announced on USN-428-1 on February 26th (by Ubuntu / Canonical!). I'm quite sure that I'm not the only Dapper user who's wondering why an already announced security update of a package which most users tend to use all day long is not made available after several days.

No offense meant, but since for one I really like the LTS concept and for another that Dapper was released with corporate business in mind, I just think that the handling of security updates should be taken even more seriously than for the "regular" releases.

Since the update for Firefox is already available for Breezy, but not for Dapper, so this looks for me like mistreatment of the LTS release.

Have a nice day.

I'm sorry, the dapper packages got wedged on their way to Launchpad. It's fixed now.
