I went to the website but it specifically says it's only for 6.10 and
I'm using 7.04?

Do you still want me to proceed?

Silvio

The page starts with comments for 6.10, but there are hints for 7.04, too on the same page. The procedure for 7.04 is the same as for 6.10, only the debug-symbols-packages are on a different location, see: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash#head-dfec77613a7608500efa364c6f6f55c19bfe8aaa

Hi Sebastian,

I have tried to follow those instructions and add that line but I cannot
save the source list file. It gives me an error.

Also I have tried to open the same file with software sources but the
same program crashes at all times.

While I am at it I have another problem with Evolution. When I try to
open the messages from the inbox they open up blank yet I can read them
from the preview pane.

What do you recommend I do?

Regards,

Silvio

You do not have the permissions necessary to save the file. Please check
that you typed the location correctly and try again.

What do I do?

Is that correct?

What about

4. The debug symbol packages have the '-dbgsym' suffix attached, so to
install the debug symbols for the package 'yelp', you run:

        sudo apt-get install yelp-dbgsym
     a. Now you make a Backtrace.

     b. You can also run Valgrind, if the program crashes with a
        "Segmentation fault" or "Bus error".

     c. Optionally, you may be asked to produce an Strace.

Do you want to do the above or not?

How do I keep Evolution updated with all the bug fixes?

        Thanks,

        Silvio

Thanks Sebastien.

One question though..how can I have the latest version of evolution at all times?

I love this email program but sometimes it lacks behind Kmail or even Outlook in some areas.

Any plan to upgrade it at par with the others? I do not use Exchange so such server compatibility is not an issue for me.

Please let me know.

Regards,

Silvio
